Coloured concrete
Colour is the simplest step away from plain grey. It can be added right through the mix so the colour runs through the whole slab, or worked into the surface as a colour hardener or oxide during finishing. Through-colour is more forgiving of wear because there is colour all the way down, while surface colour gives stronger, richer tones. Either way it pairs with a plain trowelled, broomed or textured finish, and it is a common choice for a driveway or path that needs to look considered without a busy pattern.
Colour also works alongside the other finishes. A stencilled or stamped surface is usually coloured as part of the process, so the two go hand in hand.
